Overview

Group admins are members of your account who can manage user groups (but they don't necessarily have to have any other admin rights). Someone with group admin permissions can:

  • Add or remove users from a user group.
  • Add, rename, or remove subgroups.
  • Rename and delete subgroups.

Please note, account admins with certain rights can manage all user groups and add users to them, regardless of whether they are a group admin or not.

Important Information

  • When you make someone a group admin for one group, they automatically have admin rights for its subgroups as well.
  • Group admins don't necessarily become members of the user group they manage. If they are not in the user group, then when you share something with the User Group it is not also shared with its admins (unless you add them to the group).

Grant Group Admin Permissions

Enterprise admins with the right to "Edit and delete users and collaborators" can grant group admin permissions to admins and regular users.

You can choose any regular user or administrator to be a group admin. They can either be a member of that group or someone from outside the group.

  1. Click your profile image in the workspace's upper right-hand corner.
  2. Select "Settings" from the dropdown.
  3. Click "Users" in the left panel to see a list of all users in the account.
  4. Select a user group from the list.
  5. To the right of “No Group Admins Assigned“, click “Assign“ and search for the user you want to assign as the group admin, from the dialog box that appears.
